The annual National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Convention was held over five days between January 15th and 19th in Philadelphia, PA. Arrington Training & Development Founder, Matthew Arrington, and Assistant Director, Andrew Banadda, were on hand to take it all in. Among the plethora of lectures, exhibits, and field sessions, ATD's representatives were fortunate enough to get some one on one time with a number of world renowned soccer personnel. Stephen Constantine, Head Coach of Greek Superleague side Apollon Smyrni, expressed his belief in ATD's aspirations. "I think they're (ATD) really on to something. From the teams and coaches I've worked with in the States, I haven't seen anyone preaching the same values as their (ATD) staff. I'm interested to see where the organization goes from here- I'll be keeping an eye on them."
Arrington and Banadda were also fortunate enough to speak with Shakhtar Donetsk Technical Director and Reserve Team Head coach, Miguel Cardoso. Cardoso took the time to discuss tactics and training ideas with the guys and left them with the assurance that he'd make himself available to help in the future.
It was deemed a worthwhile trip at the end of weekend according to Banadda, "The people we met and the connections we made will be priceless as we continue to grow. Like any young organization, we need new people and new ideas to assist our staff and our program. The guys that we spoke to this weekend have done so much in their own careers- for them to offer their experience and knowledge to use at our disposal is really something special."
